MaGIC government agency partners with Izwan & Partners

Izwan & Partners is delighted to be appointed as a legal partner to the Asean Centre of Entrepreneurship (ACE) programme, powered by Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC).

Izwan Zakaria, the managing partner of Izwan & Partners leading the initiative, said:

“Given our deep involvement in the tech and startup sector, we’re excited to be partnering with Malaysia’s most important government agency in promoting entrepreneurship in the country.  We already advise a number of successful venture-backed early stage companies here in Kuala Lumpur. We will look to share our experience with the MaGIC team during the partnership.  Although the post-COVID-19 crisis will be challenging and there is a lot of competition internationally, but we think Malaysia’s tech ecosystem has the skills and entrepreneurs to develop Malaysia into a successful startup and technology hub.”

MaGIC discovers and empowers technology startups and social innovators through creativity, innovation and technology adoption, and develops a vibrant and sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem in Malaysia. Since its inception in 2014, MaGIC has provided its community of start-ups, investors and ecosystem players with capacity building programmes, market & funding opportunities and regulatory assistance that impacted more than 100,000 aspiring and seasoned entrepreneurs with overall value creation of RM1.9 billion.

As an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), MaGIC facilitates, navigates and enables the ecosystem with the mission of strengthening Malaysia’s position as an emerging innovation nation.

Started in 2016, ACE seeks to provide connections between ecosystem players including collaboration with partners in ASEAN countries to act as a landing platform for Malaysian startups for regional expansion.

In addition to the ACE programme, MaGIC also runs other initiatives like the annual Global Accelerator Programme (GAP) which seeks to equip local and global startups seeking to expand in Southeast Asia and Pemangkin Usahawan Sosial Hebat (PUSH), a 5 weeks programme to grow and scale social enterprises under its social enterprise team.
